Large insurance company looking to add an associate actuary to their staff. This is a great position for a retirement actuary whose looking to transition career into more of a financial/investment related position. This position deals with Liability Driven Investing. Reports to a Pension Risk Transfer actuary supporting the business analysis, sales support, final pricing, and the transition of pension plans for Pension Risk Transfer business. Acts as a subject matter expert for evaluating price and business risk of acquiring pension liabilities from a Defined Benefit sponsor. Primary accountabilities include: replicating pension liabilities, constructing projected pension plan cash flows, forecast valuations, performing data analysis, and actuarial studies related to acquiring pension liabilities and development appropriate levels of risk capital for pension liabilities. Prepares plan spin-off analysis and alternative pension risk management and transfer solutions to support Pension Risk Transfer activities. Ideal candidate will be a College graduate with evidence of strong analytical skills. Possess strong oral and written communication skills; strong PC skills; and an ability to apply basic actuarial principles to resolve Defined Benefit plan issues. 5 years of experience in valuing defined benefit pension plans under ERISA and FASB no. 87/88/158, or 5 years of experience in valuing liabilities under Group Annuity Insurance Contracts. Understanding of ERISA section 4044 regulations. Understanding of defined benefit plan liability forecasting and asset liability modeling. Demonstrated experience with complex analysis and deep understanding of financial modeling (Excel/Access) is necessary. Translate technical information derived from analysis into logical recommendations that then serve as the basis for implementation. Enhance product development and processes, availability / awareness of data, and improve decision-making. Preferably the candidate will have shown progress towards attainment of the ASA, EA, CERA, or CFA designation.
